What is a Box of Delight?
A Box, plainly made of wood, is sanded until smooth, primed with white paint before creating a ‘Box of Delight’.
Some boxes are reclaimed (my favourite kind, though hard to find) and pulling them apart bit by bit, they go through the same process of sanding and smoothing and made into a blank canvas to create on.
All are true originals.
A one-off. a hand designed, hand painted object of imperfection.
As smooth as I can make it it’ll still have some rough edges, lines are not straight, brush marks are visible, sometimes there are splatters and holes where teeny tiny screws have misfit.
As time consuming as a painting, why, they ARE a painting! But they have another use too, to keep secrets in….
I have made several commissioned boxes – NO photos as they are Private, for the owners eyes only, but have included:
A Fistful Of Dollars
Black Narcissus (sister Ruth)
Most boxes are 25 x 20 x 10 cm, but I can give you the exact dimensions of any box that takes your fancy!
All materials are Artist quality
I take commissions for individual boxes, please contact me for a ‘no pressure’ chat!
